Ælemental Zine-O-phobia #1

As part of ZineQuest 3, we offered a different kind of RPG experience, one where solo play is encouraged with five exploration Roll & Write adventures. 

Ælemental Zine-O-phobia is a 32-page A5-sized zine that incorporates both an elegant RPG (role-playing game) and a unique Roll & Write game for 1-5 players. It is set in the world of 'Ælemental Journey', a young-adult eco-fantasy* book series, which is influenced by the worlds of Artemis Fowl, Indiana Jones, and The Da Vinci Code. The Zine comes with 5 brief adventure prompts that link together into a mini-campaign that deals with non-physical conflict resolution (ageism, racism, sexism, and political/religious extremism) using a metaphorical fantasy backdrop of mythological and magical beings in domains, mysteriously hidden from our everyday lives.

Players will be confronted with, and need to negotiate their way past, strange characters that will challenge their beliefs, behaviors, and habits so they can expand their social tolerances and overcome interpersonal biases.

One player (the Navigator) will guide 1 to 3 other players (the Explorers) through a Portal into hidden pocket realms full of Others and societies both strange and challenging. Or you can play it solo! All you need to play is this zine, a pencil, a coin, 3 dice (preferably 1 six-sided, 1 twelve-sided, and 1 twenty-sided, but 3 six-sided will do as well) and some drinks and snacks.
